Description
Description
Do you have any of these problems with your current storm drain filters?
- Limited sediment capture?
- Blinds quickly, causing ponding or flooding?
- Difficult to deploy because you must remove the storm grate?
- Difficult to maintain because the device falls into the catch basin or is extremely heavy and hard to remove?
- Overwhelmed by heavy rain events or sediment loads?
- Too large, and costs a lot to ship and store?
- Cannot filter out oils?
- Does not come in custom sizes?
The Stormtration™ Grizzy Storm Drain Filter Mat removes sediment, oils and debris from stormwater, and is extremely simple to install and maintain.
Now PA DEP–approved for use in both High Quality (HQ) and Exceptional Value (EV) watersheds.
- Easy Installation: Heavy-duty magnets mean it’s as simple as just sitting the Grizzly Mat on top of the storm drain. Set It. Forget It.®
- Easy Maintenance: Everything is captured above the drain. Just sweep up the accumulated sediment and debris. No removing grates or fishing filters out of the bottom of the catch basin.
- Extremely High Sediment Capture: The combination of coir fibers and Spilltration® Husky Filter Media allows for unparalleled sediment capture. The 2” high profile stops most of the sediment and debris around the edges of the mat, while the Husky layer filters the fine sediment down to 53 microns.
- High Flow Rates: Designed for efficient stormwater filtration with flow rates of 500 gal/min (24×24″), 550 gal/min (27×27″), 600 gal/min (24×36″), and 800 gal/min (24×48″)
- Filters Hydrocarbons: Spilltration® Husky fibers filter out oils, fuels, greases and other hydrocarbons.
- Fits Different Drain Types: Built-in flap lays flat on standard Type-M inlet or folds up and covers curb drain on Type-C inlets.
- Reusable: Can be cleaned off and reused multiple times.
- Environmentally Friendly & Sustainable: Coir layer is made from natural coconut husk fibers. Spilltration® Husky fibers made from 100% recycled waste.
- Proven Performance: Tested in a multi-stage storm simulation designed to replicate heavy rainfall and sediment loading. Read the full test results→
- Made in the USA

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) periodically reviews and approves new alternative Erosion and Sediment control (E&S) Best Management Practices (BMPs) that are shown to be as effective or more effective than practices already identified in the Pennsylvania Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual.
Alternative BMPs that have been approved by PA DEP are not subject to further review when submitted in a Notice of Intent (NOI).
HalenHardy Grizzly Mat has been approved as an alternative Erosion and Sediment Control (E&S) Stormwater Control Measure (SCM) and as a Post-Construction Stormwater Management (PCSM) Best Management Practice for both High Quality (HQ) and Exceptional Value (EV) Watersheds. (see page 8 of the Pennsylvania Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual).
