Mitigating the Impacts of Stormwater Pollutants
Mitigating the Impacts of Stormwater Pollutants
Why respond to spills when you can prevent them?
Spill mitigation is often equated with spill response – but the truth is that some of the best forms of spill mitigation can be put into place proactively: long before a spill ever happens.
Because it’s hard to predict the moment when a valve will start to leak or when a truck will back into an oil-filled container, being prepared for these and other likely scenarios before they happen is often the difference between a minor cleanup and a reportable release.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize areas where spills are most likely to occur
- Minimize the potential for releases
- Prepare spill-prone areas to mitigate the severity of releases
